engine brake system?

It may be flat or cogged, but it won't have grooves running the long way on the inside. You can see the grooves in this picture. Also the belt part# ending in 1069 is EBS and 1077 isn't. http://www.parkeryamaha.com/in...=VIEWPROD&ProdID=20900

top cog belt running across the top polaris belt.

Default engine brake system?

I didn't realize there were EBS and non EBS belts. I bought replacement belts to carry on my 05 400's. If they are non EBS belts, will the EBS still work?

No. It won't fit properly.

I too believe the top cogs will have better cooling. The cogs should act a little bit like fins on a radial fan and stir the air.

yes there is a differnce for sure between the non ebs and ebs belts and hes right they wouldnt work or fit correctly.

Those lengthwise belt grooves must be there to match with the groves in the EBS one-way clutch.

Yep. That's what they're there for.
