Default 93 Sportsman 350 4x4

Hello everyone... Just joined the forum today looking to tap your experience.

Just obtained a broken down Sportsman 350 and trying to decide to over haul or not. I pulled the head and cylinder to find burned/melted piston and scarred cylinder. Cylinder looks like it can be bored within oversize tolerances and piston/rings replaced. I was surprised to find the crankcase full of water however. As all my experience with 2 stroke engines have been with air cooled models, can anyone give me ideas how the coolant got here? Is this normal? Is there potentially a broken internal cover, hose, etc...

Can anyone make a recommendation on a good shop manual?

Also, if you have done this before and regretted it, I would appreciate your comments here also.

Thanks.

The way the coolant gets in the crank is usually a bad head gasket or water pump seal.

Check the counter balance for oil and if it is clean and no sign of water I would do a topend if the counter balance is bad part it out
