how would i go about checking that tlc?

 

I never fooled with it but I know the 500 has a auto decompression valve for easier start ups,it sounds like your may be stuck closed some how.

 

well took the plug out and spun it over, put plug back in and it turns over but wount start now. looks like i got a pile of junk on my hands, any sugestions? spark plug looked dry. so i took off the breather and wile turning it over sprayed in carb cleaner, still nothing?

 

shouldnt it of started on carb cleaner?

 

ok update, got her running by squirting gas in carb. but just burns it up backfireing and stops? any tips what to do next>?

sorry but whats upclean mean? take it rite out and yake it apart? thanks

 

Pull out carb to get to float bowl,remove, clean big jet in middle,small idle jet recessed (use small screwdriver to remove) clean jets with spray carb cleaner,blow out with air if have compressor,look thru jets to see that both are open,replace,check float needle for sticking,replace if necessary,then reinstall carb. If sounds like too much for you,let someone else do it. Keep STABIL in gas tank and carb wont be a problem ! Hope this is your problem If sitting up and not used often, gas can varnish and clog carb jets.
