Magnums were good machines, just check out carefully, check NADA or Kelley blue book. Used atvs are sometimes worse maintained than used lawn equiptment!

The average speed was less than 9 miles per hour, so it was probably worked at low speeds more more than it was ridden for fun. It's not a lot of hours though. NADA Low retail, $2,070. Average retail, $2,720. I wouldn't pay more than $2,800 with the blade, if I bought it at all.

the machine looks good and runs great, you can tell it was adult ridden and taken care of. the kelly blue book lists it at $3390 ???

I had a 2000 magnum 500. which I bought used. It was a GREAT machine. very reliable. Check the rear axle bearings for play. This machine is basically a Sportsman 500 with a solid rear axle instead of Independant rear suspension. The Magnum 500 is actually a BETTER work machine than the Sportsman 500 for the sole reason that when towing a trailer, the tongue weight is placed on the tires only, and not on the suspension. This means it can handle more weight. It is not as good of a trail machine, because it lacks the articulation on the rear end.
It is still VERY capable in the trails though. I used to go everywhere my brother in law could go with his '05 GRizzly 660 with no problem.

Quote from KBB, "The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer." I guess a dealer will say it's worth $3,390 so if you talk them down to $2,720 you think you got a great deal.

When I checked my '06 on KBB I had to type in my zip code and it adjusted the price for my area. NADA was for the whole country and either $15 or $30 higher. The insurance company paid me the NADA price.

ok, it sounds like to me that $3000 with the blade should be fair. the next question is how do you mount a winch on the front of it?? there is not really a place for one.
thanks

I have a (polaris brand) mount for a Magnum 500 for a warn 2000 lb winch....not sure if it would fit other winch set ups....It does need a double tube bumber to mount the fairlead to. The winch bracket is just a bracket without a fairlead mount. You can PM me your email address if you are interested. Asking $20 plus S&H.

This is how my bumper looked, this one is red though.
