I just looked up the M.S.R.P. for the new models. The new SP550 is 8,200!

Same price as a 750 BF

Even the well known for being out of there mines with pricing also Can Am has there <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.powersportsnetwork....1=86568&go2=Go">500 class machine listed lower.</a>

I know its a Deluxe SP550 modle but at $7,500 the standard SP550 is only $100 less than a 750 KQ 750 KQ

Don,t matter how much goodies you put on a Mid size machine it should not cost more than a Big Bore .

 

If thats what it costs to build and cover what they have to make off of it than thats what they have to charge. The new XP's have many updates that cost polaris moko bucks to design and build, and I'm sure it will pay off, just like it did when the first sportsman came out, and if I remember right those were more expensive compared to most other machines at that time.

 

I remember the SP500 costing more in 97 because it had IRS,Liquid cooling,disk brakes,AWD and low range while most others did not so it stood out. But today all most all ATVs are featured alike.

The New SP550 has nothing over the less expensive a ALSO NEW 550 Grizzly and defiantly nothing over the 750 KQ.

 

I will say I love my Polaris but after having my Raptor now over a year I have been considering on getting a new 4x4 and I thought I would wait and see what the new Popo's's looked like. Now that we know some facts the Popo's they look like a solid machine. But after all is said and done I think for the money the new Grizz 700 or 550 deff deserves a second look!

 

The only 500 class machine in the Sportsman 550 price range is the also well known over priced 500 Outlander,which lost out to a Suzuki KQ 450 let alone a 750 KQ for the same money.

 

They still make the "08" model sportsmans in 09. And those are cheaper than the 08's were by a couple hundred bucks.

 

Gotta believe that the first time buyers don't have a brand loyalty like someone who has owned one or more in the past.

Kinda like when I was looking for a new truck. It had to have a/c, power windows/locks cruise control, automatic and a tow package. Anything after that was just added stuff I didn't want to pay for. Went out and looked Dodge, Ford, Chevy/GMC, Nissan and Toyota.

Went with who had the lowest price.

I can see a lot of them passing up the sp500 and going to a different model just because of the price.

What should polaris do? They arn't going to sell those machines for less than it costs to build them. And I'm sure they won't even make any money on them for the first couple of years. I bet the regular sportsman chassis floats the cost of the new sportsman xp platform.

I consider polaris to be a higher class of machine than other ATV's, you cant compare the cost of a BMW to a KIA.

 

I like Polaris also but no way I could buy a Mid size 550 ATV when a Big Bore 650-800 ATV is parked next to it on the show room floor with the same price tag on it.
