Sorry to hear about your quad JF if you get it back tape razor blades so they're hidden but will be grabbed while trying to steal the quad. You'll have a good blood trail to follow then!

Dang JF,

That's bad. Five quads in two years? Not trying to sound like a smart *** here, but maybe it's time to get a Can Am. The DESS makes it almost impossible to steal. Can they roll it off? Sure, but what are they going to do with it once they get it where it's going? You can't start it by hot wiring or picking the lock. You must have the key. The dealer is the only one who can program them for your ATV and they won't do that until you show proof of ownership. Without the key the ECM is disabled so it won't start. So while they can steal it, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it'll be no use to them. Good luck trying to sell a quad for crack money if it doesn't run.

I'm not going to do anything that's going to get me arrested and put in jail, and I don't want to get sued for having a bear trap, razor blades, land mines, a shotgun with a tripwire, or an electric fence. The only one that MAY be legal to use is razor blades, but only if they're placed so a curious kid could play with the ATV without getting hurt. It's like all the people who get sued when someone tresspasses and drown in someone else's pool. They get in trouble for having something as tempting as a swimming pool in the yard and not putting a fence all the way around it. The laws are stupid but I don't want to break them.

Most likely they are sold for parts on ebay or Craigslist. That would be a good place to start looking but where it is stolen and where is is sold are often different places. When I lived in the city I kept mine in a rental storage building. A small one. It was not supposed to be in there so I only got it out or put it back at night when they were closed. It was fairly cheap and no one knew it was there. Just kept the tank full to the top so there was no vapor to ignite.

Not sure why these guys steal peoples stuff.

Last week near Meadville PA a couple guys stole a few quads and drove onto a ladies propery and when she went to confront them, she was shot by one of the lowlifes.

Luckily a armed citizen showed up and saved her life by shooting the assailant in an exchange of gunfire with a revolver loaded with .410 shotgun shells. ("The Judge" is the name off the revolver I think).

The wounded thief took his own life shortly after realizing what he was facing.

I would like to stick up for jumbofrank for a few reasons. I frequently leave my quad outside when I stay over at a friends house. I do try to park it out of sight, but I can not park it in his garage because it holds his quads. You can only do so much. Insurance is a nice backup.

Loud guns tend to scare off those lurking/trespassing in the dark-Someone tried stealing mine once- I don't think they'll try that again......

It sucks that I can't park it in my driveway long enough to work on it or install any accesorries. It gets stolen in broad daylight while I'm at home, and awake. I had just shut off the porch light a 1/2 hour earlier because it was light out. They took it sometime during the 1/2 hour I wasn't looking out the window. It took at least two people to get it off the trailer without the tongue slamming into the concrete when they backed it off.

Even if I catch a gang of thieves in the act I can't do anything except call the police. I already got put on probation and got a gun confiscated for defending my life, so if I use a gun to stop a theft I'm really screwed. If someone is in my yard I can't do anything even if they're threatening me and stealing everything I own. I can't fire a warning shot or even walk outside with a gun. Brandishing a firearm is a crime around here. It doesn't matter why you did it and it doesn't matter if you point it at someone or not. I didn't but now I'm missing a customized Dan Wesson that can never be replaced. That's the kind of laws we have in Democrat states and our Democrat prosecutors love to punish the victims and let the criminals go. Even if they come into my house I have to prove in court that I was in fear of my life and couldn't run away. Then I'll fill them so full of lead you can use them for an anchor.

HOLY **** you gotta be kidding me that totally blows dude! And to those of you on the forums that think he was asking for it cuz it was chained up in his yard go $%%^ yourselves, "if you have the money to buy a quad why dont you have the money to build a place to put it".... a quad is 7k a garage is 30k that is a big F'n difference! you dont know how big a yard a person has or the financial situation someone is in. It was chained up you dill dough! i believe that falls under reasonably attempting to deter a thief, you shouldnt have to do anything to it. yes unfortunately you do have to do things in this day and age especially in an economy that is suffering.

ps frank... i was sleeping at 6 this morning that is my alibi
