Yeah, what's up with that? I figured that out yesterday, it's like someone is holding a damn hairdryer set on high against your ankle. I can't figure if the heat is coming off the pipe or being vented through that opening by the radiator fan. Either way something is gonna have to change. What do you guys think about thermo tape around the pipe there?

The problem is there is no heat shield driectly behind the removable side panel so all that heat get vented straight out to your leg. Just wait till you hit a puddle of water at speed and it splashes on the pipe. You get a nice big steam cloud. I was thinking of getting some plastic sheeting and covering the entire side opening to prevent some of it. Even the aftermarket heat shields don't cover that saction of pipe. Check out my picks. The only thing left to do is header wrap it.

I thought that only 800s had this problem.
