IS the Outlaw the new version of the Predator?
Polaris made the Outlaw starting in 2006, they had the 500 motor that they used in the Predator and were only available with the IRS. In 2007 they started using the KTM 525 motor in them, but the 500 and the Predator was also availalbe. In 2008 they dropped the 500 motor and the Predator, but started making Outlaws with a straight axle like the Predator had as well. Also in 2008 they introduced a 450 model with a KTM motor and a straight axle. Now for 2009 they changed the plastics so they look differnet, but the quads are basically the same as the 2008.

Besides the plastic there are a few more changes with the '09 Outlaw models.
All the plastic fasteners are now one size and there is far fewer of them, 47 of them to be exact. The '09 went to a single headlight setup. It now has aluminum front bumpers and aluminum heel guards. The overall seat height has also been lowered by .7 inches. The fuel tank is now 3 gallons and the battery has been moved down low inside the frame. The '09 Outlaws no longer have the PRO steering and all the full size Outlaws lost 6 pounds across the board.

are they a good quad?
only if you want the fastest quad out there. not interested in that? how about a motor that always has power, torque out the wazoo. tired of getting hung up in ruts or bangin off of rocks ? how about smooth riding, high ground clearance IRS. or how about a sport quad that handles the trails more like a utv(higher ground clearance) on steriods! i have an 08 525 outlaw and love it. fast or slow riding it's an awesome trail machine, playful as a puppy, fast as a cheetah. head on over to predatorowners.com and in the outlaw section- why outlaws rock - for more testimonial. as for price, shop around- i got mine for 5g otd brand new. as for reviewers, keep in mind that hairsplitting can go on forever, and the muses need to just shut up and ride. also, it seems there's a bit of the red headed step child affect on polaris, that leads people to withhold praises when it's due, like with the outlaw - this quad shoulda been quad 'o the year by now.

If you got the Green buy the KTM if not you want comfort go for the IRS it has a ride like a Cadillac!! Have not regretted the purchase and if you go to CTracing.com you get the quick fix on what the 07's need. Mostly just small stuff like front wheel bearings but also great pointers on what to do first!
