Default 4X4 Dash Indicator Acting Up

Just wondering if anyone has ever had problems with the 4X4 Indicator staying on when switched from AWD back to 2wd? I had a problem on the weekend with it showing always being in 4X4 no matter the switch position. I started the bike last night and it would blink on the dash but everything seemed to be working correctly. Just wondering if I should be concerned or suggestions? Thanks for your time.

If the AWD icon stays on regardless of switch position then the ground wire for the AWD coil(pin16) is more than likely shorted to ground.
Is it actually in AWD,or is it just the icon showing?
Is it throwing any codes?
I know you said everything else is fine, have you checked the instument cluster, are gear positions showing properly? Does the AWD icon show in neutral and park?

Thanks just starting to learn on this. When it was acting up it was showing all the time even when AWD wasn't engaged and in all gears P,R,N,L,H. The check engine light wasn't up so assumed no codes but will check.

Checked and no codes so hopefully just a short in a wire from moisture and will be good in the future.

it shouldnt be showing awd in reverse at all unless the override is pushed. if you put it in dianostic mode and check the awd circuit what does it say? so is it stuck in awd or is it just the speedo saying it?

It is all working fine now in the garage and when in Diagnostic mode shows correctly when switching back and forth just not sure what could have caused the problem when out riding last Sunday. Hopefully won't happen and again and just chalk it up to some quirk.

i would guess you got some moisture in there somewhere in the connections. alot of times they put dielectric grease in the connections to help w/ this so they dont corrode.
