HIGHOCTANE...
I went on Symtec's website and it says they draw 40w at it's max... But the machine did sit for a while in the garage before I used it so like Upnorth said it probably wasn't at it 12.6 when I started..

Right,it probably wasn't..
Have you checked it today by chance to see where it is? Or did you put it on the charger already?
This thread reminded me check mine, lol. 12.72 perfect..of course the battery is only a few months old,it isn't very cold here,I have no added current drawing accessories,I rarely need my lights and I rarely use my winch. But I do ride very slow for long periods.
If mine wasn't getting so much cosistent usage I bet it would need a little charge by now though.

I'm going to have to hook up my battery tender that I took off my 500.This hasn't happened to me, but I rather be safe than sorry.

Also if not is the XP manual references the charging system output as "Alternator Output"...and rates it at 475w@ 1200RPM!! Peak 575W. 475 at 1200 is pretty dang good IMO.

Edit-never mind..Polaris calls it an alternator on the 08's as well.

If it is truly and alternator that might be an ATV first? I'm no electritian,so I'm just going by what it says and the little I have read about ATV charging systems.</end quote></div>

You really seem to be doing your homework about these machines and I'm learning alot from you lately...By the way, you're really racking up the posts..I think at record pace..

John,

The Battery Tender Junior is a great investment. Mine lives on one, and the battery is always right up to snuff... and turns her over in a hurry.
