2002 Sportsman H.O. won't rev up
Hey everyone, I'm new here and in kind of a jam. I just bought this quad before the new year and the day after I went out on my channel with it and wound up falling in through a weak spot in the ice and flooded it out..Yeah I know. Anyway, I drained the gas and oil out gave it an oil change and got it running again. It idles great I just can't get the bike bike to rev up without sputtering and bogging down. I took the carb apart and it looked nice and clean. I already ordered a jet kit for it and a new needle and seat kit, but haven't gotten them yet. I'm trying to figure out what's going on if it's not the carb. I'm just throwing this out there for anyone that has any ideas other than the carb as I will be rebuilding it when I get the parts. Maybe there's something else I'm missing that I didn't check?

if it has a fuel filter maybe it has some water left in it. could have some electronics still wet. and i would check the oil again after it has been running. i would bet it is still milky.
it really sounds to me like you have some gunk somewhere in one of the passages clogging it up.

if it ran fine b4 you dunked it then it doesnt need a carb rebuild. like mentioned check for water still in system and if there was water in the base (oil) you'll need a couple of changes to get it out. for far can you rev it b4 it bothers and is in gear or same if in netrual?

Lol, I actually got it going just now..I put the choke on and put it in drive, moved forward and back a few times and something must have dried up or something because I took the choke off and it reved up after a few pumps of the gas. It really hasn't moved at all since it hasn't been working. Guess it needed to get a little more water out. Finally I got it.
