I asked my dealer about the belts on the 850 to see if he had any feed back about the 850 belts having problems. He laughed and said "you've been on that internet again haven't you. Just go out and ride your bike" I think he's right.

I have 150 miles on mine, no problems (knock on wood). And as stated above to get 5000 miles from polaris says they believe in it enough to back it up. that's a bad sterotype about belt driven quads that's just not true...

 

Out of ELEVEN differant sportsman quads and my rzr that i have owned i have never had a issue with a belt and i dont baby my machines.I have done alot of sled pulls ,mud races etc, and put alot of miles on trails.ALOT of the time someone has a isolated issue and on the internet it seems to get really blown out of proportion.I also usally run aftermarket wheels and tires,with the tires being bigger than stock.

I agree with that...regarless of what is said on the net I'll ride mine till it truly breaks something..the only thing the internet is for is info to be taken with a grain of salt and entertainment..
I hate to say it but you know there are people out there that say this and that about and claim first hand knowledge about xyz machine and in reality they don't even have one..it's all a fairy tale..it happens..

 

You really have to sort through the good info and the bad info on the web. There is a lot of valuable and correct information on the internet... including on this site. However, sometimes figuring out what is "correct" is the difficult part.
