Default I have a new paper weight

Got one of these Warn 2.5ci winches. I use it for my snow plow. Some times it freespool a little out and here the other day I could not get it to go out after a fair amount of use. After 5 - 10 minutes it worked ok again. Does anybody know if they have a thermo switch in them. Or if the contactor have it? I heard a click in the contactor when the in button was pressed but not when the out button was pressed. Just a little blink in the lights.

I would never buy another "Polaris" atv or anything that said polaris again even if it was the last atv company in the world after the junk I have had from them. Its a shame to cause I really like the looks of their machines to but every one I have owned have given me headaches. Not trying to bash but its the truth and I know I don't stand alone</end quote></div>

Wildman, what did you have that was Polaris and what year? What are you riding now?</end quote></div>

I had a 1995 Polaris magnum 425 since new and a 2004 sportsman 500. Both were always headaches. It was always 1 thing after another and that chain drive was the worst design ever on the 95. It seemed to be reliable but the constant adjusting sucked.

I now have a 2008 brute force 650i that's new and haven't had any issues yet. Lots of power and so far reliable. I don't wanna speak to soon though cause it seems all the new quads have some sort of issue. My polaris expirence was just horrible though

When we got our Hawkeye, we got the 1500lb Polaris winch and its amazing. Haven't had a problem and it's done a lot of work. Shortly after we got that one, the Warn 2.5 on our Outlander XT stopped working once and for all.

It would slip when I would winch in almost like a tooth had broken in the gears of something, the free-spool lever had snapped, and then the motor went. I know it was the motor because the contactor was sending power to the winch.

We replaced it with a 3500 Polaris winch (re-used the warn bracketry) and its awesome. Pulls really hard, doesn't slip, and has the synthetic rope.

I like it, we've put it through its paces and then some and hasn't faultered once.

The only thing is its a little noisier than the Warn, but everything else is nicer IMO.

The '95 Magnum425 was Polaris's FIRST 4-stroke ATV. I bought one brand new that year.

Once a year I brought it to the dealer for the oil change and whatever else they did and I had ZERO problems with it. Years later I sold it to my brother and to-date he uses it daily on his property. That's 14 years baby!!!!

I used it for utility and because of it's time-proven longevity, I have purchased more Polaris ATVs.

Well much like most of you with the polaris crap winch, mine died on me too! Just trying to lift my plow, thank god not on the trail. It was replaced under warranty but I had to pay the re and re. I think I will be a warn 3000lbs before i hit mud next season.

Nice! I think that one comes with a lifetime warranty (limited) correct?
