1997 Polaris trail Boss 250 Carb issue
I recently traded my 1994 Kawaski KDX 200 for a 1997 Polaris trail Boss 250. When I bought the quad it ran for just a few seconds and the would lean out and stop. The quad had sat in a garage with the same gas for a couple years. I dumped out the gas, and replaced the gas filters in the tank. I then removed the carborator, took it apart, including the jets, and let it soak in carborator cleaner for a day. Useing a toothbrush and a thin wire I cleaned each part of the carborator including the jets. I put the carborator back together and started it up. It started but ran lean even with the choke on. I then moved the needle valve clip down from middle position down one, put it back together and started it. It ran better, but still lean. I moved it down to the last position, near the sharp tip and it ran even better, but still lean. With the choke engaged it ran almost perfect, but I little on th rich side. The leaness is from bottom to top rpms with the choke off. I thought maybe I need a richer mainjet and pilot jet. But why would I have to do this when the quad has stock exhaust and everthing else. mmm, the oil injection system has the same oil (polaris gold synthetic oil) that it came with and sat in it for the last 2 years. Does oil injection oil in a sealed container go bad as gas goes bad in a gas tank? It does smoke alot. My kdx 200 I mixed the oil by hand. What I have seen with other oil injection systems is they run way to rich and smoke alot. is there a way to adjust the richness of the oil injection system?

when adjust right the oil injection system is just right on these motors. are you sure the air/fuel screw is adjusted correctly. i dont remember the number of turns required but that would be where i start. did you blow out all the little passages in the carb body too?
