I have had each side apart about 6-8 times. I think that I have a pretty good feel for how tight they should be. Switching everything back and forth, methodicly, trying to narrow down what the problem is. Thanks again.

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the speedo had to be functional for the AWD to function properly,

In some cases yes, if the coils will not engage. In my case it seams to be a mechanical problem. If my hub had a defect of some kind I would have no problem replacing it, but it appears to look fine and I just having a hard time spending $200 just to see if that is the problem.

I would think that if the hub was the problem it would engage erratically, or try to engage, maybe try it with all four wheels off the ground on jack stands to see if it partially engages or tries to, you got a good one here, hope you find your problem, let me know if you do, I'd be interested in knowing

I have not tried it with all four wheels up in the air yet, but I have tested lots with snow, ice, and up against trees. In the deep snow the wheel will want to try to engage a little bit every once in a while, but is very spontainious. I just seem to be one of those guys that have the unusual problem that know one has heard about. Thanks again, Dale.

I had this same problem on my 2001. Mine turned out to be the innner and outter magnet poles were not set correct anymore and the clutch was not engaging. The otter pole was out to far so I tapped it back with a rubber mallet and it works fine. I got all the info and repair inforamtion from a manual.

Thank you, I will look in to that. It might be the same problem. That front wheel took a pretty hard hit before I noticed the 4x4 not working. Thanks again, Dale.
