Diagnosing CV Joint Problems
#1
On my 08 400HO I heard a noise that concerned me.
I was stopped and when I started to leave, I turned my wheels 20-30 dgreees to the right and while moving heard a snapping, growling type noise. Once underway, no more sound. The sound was of something rotating. First guess, a CV joint getting ready to die.
Anybody know what steps the dealer techs use to determine if the joint is worn.
135 hrs & 1500 mi.

so you checked the boots to make sure no rips and that the clamps were on tight so no water could get in right? most bad cv joints start out only making the clicking noise when under pressure like turning the wheel. im guessing your always in awd w/ the tracks which would be under pressure all the time. the only other thing it could be would be the wheel bearing getting ready to go as well. you must try to find out which one it is.
