EXACTLY! But, if I just touch the cable it will change RPM. I'm thinking, like a bike brake maybe I should put some cable ties around it and the handle bars.

have you checked the valves on it yet? exhaust opening up too soon will let it be a little louder.
a rat could have gotten in the exhaust if it has been sitting and messed up the packing too.

OK, Now I see what's going on Reno. I wasn't pulling the boot up far enough. It fit's real snug around the adjuster. When I turn the plastic adjuster counter clockwise, (as I'm standing on the Right side of the ATV it will speed up. If I turn it clockwise it will slow down and die. WHAT is the rpm for idle. Also, my daughter sent me an article about an EPC switch. Ala dead-mans switch. I'm going to try and work on it all day. That exhaust thing MAY have something to do with it too. That's why it'll pop, kind of like a backfire, when I keep it running by giving it throttle.

HOW DO I CHECK THE SPARK PLUG? It looks like I have to take the whole front piece off in order to get to it under the gas tank.

Just drained the gas and put new 89 octane in. Still runs like crap! RPMs will keep dropping until it dies. Besides the pops now & then the exhaust seems to smell.
It's like a car if you got it out of time or the distributor off one tooth. I'LL PROBABLY HAVE TO PAY THE PIPER ON THIS ONE BECAUSE MY SON NEEDS IT FOR SPRING TURKEY.

Have your dealer check for recalls on your machine by checking the vin#, Popo has had trouble with bad 'brain' boxes. Make sure your battery is in top notch shape, Popo's run crappy with a bum battery. I would have the battery tested and charged at a cycle shop before dragging the the quad to the dealer.

A good thing to do is to buy a toggle switch and mount it somewhere on the machine easily accessable to you. Then look for a sensor with wires coming out of the radiator. The way it works is that when your coolant gets hot, the sensor screwed into the radiator completes the cicuit by grounding itself out, inturn making the fan come on. By tapping into these wires, you can manually ground out the sensor via the toggle switch making the fan come on whenever you want. I think this is a better idea than to wait for the machine to get really hot before it decides to turn on the fan, especially if you're working it hard.

Hi Capz thats what i had to do, mine starting dying at idle I adjusted the cable and restarted the machine, there is also a cutout switch inside the throttle housing that gets sticky, I had to Flick severeral times to fix that and since then (knock on wood) it hasnt happened since.
