That's the problem, too many dealerships with inferior mechanics. I'm fortunate to have a dealership with a really good mechanic. I remember having a similar problem with mine ('03 Sportsman 600) when it was new. It had something to do with the safety throttle box, or whatever it's called, up at the thumb throttle. I took the cover off and put a little sleeve (actually a vacuum port cover for a carb) and that took care of the problem. Been fine ever since. Good luck with it.
