I blew the belt in my 850

Dave that sucks ..... another early belt failure! As XP owners we all better watch this situation closely and try to understand what the percentage of failures really is. I would have to believe that we are a small sub set of owners and as such when we see multiple premature failures for guys on this forum there are surely many many more happening.
Dave I hope you call and call and continue to call Polaris and force your dealer to call and try to find out what they think you did wrong. How many hours/miles do you actually have on yours?

It just ****es me off that the same dealer that yapped so much about 5000mile belt warranty changed his wording awful quick when he handed me the bill!
awe well gotta pay to play!!
And for y'all saying i should have changed it myself i WOULD have if i didn't think that it would have been covered!!!!!

XP or not, big bore or not, if you are running in high range at low speeds you will smoke a belt. Its not hard to figure out, I smoked belts before, and its damn near impossible to wreck a belt in low range when you are opperating at low speeds in the woods.
I run low range in the woods when I'm traveling in a group because its slow going, and its what you should be doing, just because you don't want to put it into low or just think you don't have to, thats ignorant. Low is there for a reason, use it.

Low is preferred for slow riding, but if I do ride slow and leave it in high range it still does not smoke or blow a belt up. There are many ATVs without a low range that do not blow belts on slow trail after hundreds of miles.
Polaris, Scramblers, Hawkeyes, 400 H.O, Trail Boss, Yamaha 350 Bruin/Grizzly,400 Kodiak the list goes on.

With this comparison, if you properly use LOW range you should get over 5000 miles on a belt. I don't get how people can't see this.
Saying a 45 rwhp atv will blow a belt when used properly and blaming it on the clutches is not a good excuse.
