I was wondering what the average life of a battery thats used year round in a quad is? I pulled mine out of my 98 scrambler and was going to put it on a charger overnight. The levels are fine when i checked visually. Winters been kinda harsh at times this year in the north east, and I havent been riding like usual, I hate to admit it but the quads been sitting in the garage (unheated). Anybody else dying for spring? So what do you folks think, how long does a battery last....on average? thanks in advance Bob

There are a lot of variables to consider, but here is my experience.
My 99 Xplorer I got in March of 99 is on the original and still going strong.

My 96 Honda Fourtrax 300 needed a new battery last year.

So I guess from my experience I would say 4 or 5 years, maybe.

There will always be somebody who got 10 years and another that can't get 2, but that is my guess.

Honda had a lot of problems with the batteries that they delivered on the 98 450 ES models. We had one that had to be replaced within 6 months.

I got 3 years out of my Yuasa that came with the 1995 Sportsman 400. My Magnum battery is 9 months old and does not have much "reserve" in it. I am sure it won't last 3 years.

My buddy has a 1993 Indy 500 Classic that still has the original battery. The battery lives do vary quite a bit.

My worst luck with batteries in motorcycles have been the Champion batteries available at you local mass merchandiser.

never let the battery go dead, always keep it fully charged when you are not using your quad. i was only getting 1-2 years out of my batteries before i started charging them every month when i was not not using the quad.i know get 4-5 years before i need to replace them. my wifes 1997 trailblazer battery is still going strong.

I just had to replace the battery for the first time on my Xpress a couple of weeks ago. I had it parked in my shed I think a cat got on it and turned the key by the time I saw it had happened the battery didn't have enough to make even the slightest sound. By the way would it be worth my time to put the old battery on the charger as a spare battery.
