Default trail boss engine swaps

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has any info about 2 stroke engine swaps particularly on the 4x4 trail bosses I'm just thinking about the possibility of rebuilding a scrambler 400 2 stroke and was wondering if i could get this to fit on my 91 4x4 wont be for a while but I'm going to start doing the tear down and repair on the 400 engine so any info would be appreciated i just had the idea after looking up info on Comet clutches and saw that they use the same part number and was thinking if that was the case then belt alignment should mean that it would work out any ideas appreciated.

IT will work ...but you have alot more to worry about than belts lining up, all new wiring to run the 400 , add a radiator and hoses, a 4oo airbox, i'm sure some other stuff

It will go, with some tinkering. The front engine mount is slightly different, you'll need to get a 400 CDI, wiring and exhaust. Can be done. I have 2 really nice 250 engines I'd part with. 1 in my drag racer = 38hp. 1 all stock except for a shaved head. Pm me if you want. Doc
