My wife rides a '01 Sportsman HO, not because that is what everyone told her that she would like or because that is what I wanted for her, but because she went out and test rode all the ones that she liked the looks of and then bought the one she liked the ride of... happened to be the same quad. I do like that I don't have to worry about whether or not she can keep up or go the same places I go... with the same machine she can.

Here's a new twist. The misses informed me last night that I should just get a new ride for myself and let her ride mine, the problem with that is if I were to go out today and buy a quad I would get another SC500 4x4. Is it silly to have 2 of the same machines ?

That does not sound bad but I would get the option racks on one of the Scamblers and turn it into a mule.I just cant see how people can trail ride with no racks for coolers, extra gas and such.

I don't think so, my parents bought two sportsman 500's and they both love them. The SC 500's are great quads. If all she is going to do is ride once a month then might as well let her enjoy that one ride.

I know the "by the book differences" between the 97 SC 500 and the newer models but have not been on a SC 500 newer than mine. Have any of you ridden the 97 and one of the newer models ? Is there much difference in power, hookup, ride, I know the weight has gone up since 97.
