I guess if we can't all play nice, I can clean it up the easy way.

Default Do some research

To the guy wondering if Polaris have improved the quality of their machines or not just do a search for polaris complaints and review some of the comments people have made. These people saying Honda are just boring and are only reliable because they have no features is hilarious. Whether or not a Honda has features has nothing to do with the fact that their engines and transmissions will last forever without issue. Honda is known to be bulletproof, whether it's a Civic, a Foreman or a generator they build pure quality. If you want to give up quality for an extra 5-10 mph top speed then by all means, children do seem to enjoy driving around at full speed like that. For me what's important is knowing that after 5-10 years of use I most likely won't have to do very many, if any repairs. I'm sure POlaris owners would say that all of those people who talk about their brand new Polaris having issues are just lying, they are probably just secret Polaris haters who went out of their way to purchase a Polaris. You can find comment after comment from people who have had problems with a new machine. You can probably feel pretty safe that if you buy a Honda you won't be having issues and if you do Honda will fix it/

Honestly, if you go researching any brand by looking for complaints, do you expect to find anything but problems?

I

Not really, I've owned numerous Honda's, both vehicles and atv's/sxs and have absolutey never once had anny kind of problems soon after purchase, whether it was brand new or used. Everybody knows Honda is ultra reliable, you can't understand just how great they are if you haven't owned one either. From the research I've done on Polaris they look to be real junk, and this is coming mostly from people who own one. I can't believe how many posts I come across from people who bought a Polaris brand new and had real problems with it right away, that is pretty uncommon for a Honda, at least in my experience and most others who know what Honda is all about.

I don't mend Polaris Quads, "the boss" won't buy or sell them, but just to balance a bit, Honda laid king size eggs with the 500 manual and 420 manual/ES round about 2006. The 500 gearbox rarely lasted the warranty out, though Honda did quietly alter gears in 2007 with no problems afterwards. The 420 rear axle was a complete unmitigated disaster. Our "pattern parts supplier" was selling pattern axle shafts by mid 2007, so soon did they fail, Honda persisted with this failed design until 2014, though they could, and should, have gone onto the IRS rear end, which was standard on Auto 420s, but they didn't even list it as an option on the manual/ES models. New 420s and 500s are good reliable machines, and we don't touch Polaris for a reason, but all manufacturers make mistakes now and again.

Not brand loyal at all, but if I take your advice, I'll buy a Honda because you've had great experience. And honestly, that's not a bad thing.

But I've known people who could say the same thing about other brands as well. If you research only the bad, that's all you'll find.

I'm not trying to say you are guaranteed to never have an issue with a Honda or that Honda has never had recalls or problems with a new change in a certain model but you would probably agree that Honda is usually quick to fix their issues and don't let problems linger for years and years. You can be quite confident if you buy a new, or well maintained used Honda you will get a machine that you won;t have to sink much money in to in the future. I just go by experience, out of all of the different kinds of Hondas I've owned I've very rarely had to do a repair. I've owned a few Honda atv's and to be honest I don't think I've ever had to repair anything on those bikes, just oil changes and maintenance, as far as all the different Honda vehicles I've owned both new and used I've never once had an issue that left me stranded and never once had to fix anything more than maybe a ball joint or tie rod on one of my holder cars I owned. When I compare that to all of the different domestic cars and trucks I've owned there is just no comparison whatsoever, I've dumped many thousands of dollars in repairs over the years. But to each their own, the younger crowd might prefer a Polaris because it goes faster or maybe has better suspension travel, for me what is important is having bulletproof reliability and having something that doesn't begin to fall apart after 5-10 years of ownership. I feel the same way with Toyotas, I'm a huge Toyota fan as well for the same reason, they just build damn good stuff. Of course if you've never owned a Honda or Toyota you just don't know, it's not until you own one for long enough to realize just how dependable they can be.

Sure, you can find people all over the net who will tell you Dodge makes amazing vehicles too. Honda building machines that are known to be bulletproof is just a known fact. People like what they like and I just go by my experience and the experience of others I read about. When i comes to atv's maybe some other brands like Yamaha or Kawi or whatever could be better than Honda but I didn't even bother looking elsewhere when I bought my 2016 Pioneer 500 last year, I know what I'm getting with Honda and that hasn't changed over the years.

Don't even get me started on Dodge.
