Default 400l Rebuild Doing Top End should I do bottom?

Hi All,

Needs some consulting, I just sent out my top end to rick ritter because I blew a head gasket. I just bought this big boss 400l, and the odometer says 4000 miles. The piston and cylander looked in great condition but I still sent out for new top end. The low end turns very smoothly and there is no water in the counterbalancer oil. Im going to put new seals and gasket in the waterpump, should I rebuild the crank or if everything seems to be good should I be alright? Dont really want to spend money if I dont have too.

Thanks,
HoopD

i personally would leave the bottom alone if its ok even the waterpump parts if there not leaking i think i'd leave them alone, i'd hate to change them when their ok just to have them possibly leak after reassembly, i always thought that entire waterpump system is trouble waiting to happen

I agree, if you don't have the "milky" look on the counter balancer oil, then go with it

im kinda on the fence on this one..i go along with the practic of "well the parts have been in there for a while might as well put new parts in while its tore down"

in that retro spec i would atleast change the crankseals. also grab the flywheel and wiggle it up and down and side to side. if there is any movement felt then i would definatly put new bearings on the crank
