Default No power

Late last night I had my SP800 out. Worked it hard for 2 hours, and then let it sit for 20 minutes. Now it will not start... and I get no indication of power. The display is not lit, and the fuel pump does not run. I checked the kill switch several times, and tried a different battery with no success. I also tried a jump start with nothing as well. I looked at the fuses and they seem fine. Where else should I start before I drag it back to the dealer?

Default Power

If you are getting absolutely no indication of power it may be a bad ignition switch. Sounds like you covered the other basics. Never had one go myself but that may be your problem.

Refresh my memory on what year yours is, I may have the service manual, and that should allow you to test all kinds of things and "hopefully" pin point the problem

Mine is a 2007. I had a copy of a service manual, but could never get it to open, so it is gone. That was with my old computer... the new one may work.

It works now.

It was quite dark when I checked the fuses. In the daylight today I found one of the 20 amp fuses blown. I put a new one in and it blew too. Then I disconnected my positive winch cable from the battery and the next fuse worked. I'm guessing my contactor is bad on my winch. Now I have to try to find one of those.

Glad it was something simple. Is your winch a Warn?. If it is, Warn had a run of bad contactors, leading to a redesign. Call them, they may send you a new one for free.

You will probably need model and serial # of the winch when you call.

Not a Warn. It is a Gorilla. They where good about it and cut the price for me. $25 isn't too bad. They even walked me through how to test both the contactor and switch.

When I disconnected the switch and touched the wire for "IN" it worked fine. The "OUT" wire just arced and nothing moved. The only other thing it could be is the winch motor... I left it disconnected so I should not have any problems on the trail today. I am riding with 2 other guys that have working winches, so I should be ok.
