One of my new fishing buddies is also the mechanic at a Polaris dealership near me. I asked him about this update for the 550. He advises NOT to get it. He said he already has had some complaints about rough gear engagement with the 550's due to the already high RPM's. Setting the idle faster is only going to create more complaints.

Anyhow, he has his own thoughts on the 550 idle/vibration issue. It's interesting to hear what he has to say about a lot of the ATV problems... quite interesting.

On a positive note, he says that the vibration issue and sometimes rough gear engagement are about the only thing he sees on the 550's. Most of the other problems are rider induced.

It idles between 1750 and 1800 RPM. When I talked to the service tech he stated that the flash just increases the idle to help smooth out the vibration due to the single cylinder engine.
