Concentrate on the wire end connections only and see if that works first, before a bad spot in between which would be a long fustrating track down for sure.
I heard of a guy who had a micro crack in his coil housing and it was arcing to the frame so I'm gonna take mine off and give it a solid visual inspection before I move on. I'm not 100% sure the rough running and cylinder cut out was in the ignition since I only gave it about 10 minutes of diag time before I jumped on my father's Outalnder and we headed out because it was getting late already. I'm on vacation this week so tomorrow afternoon I'll get down and dirty with this and figure it out. If it runs mint first thing tomorrow I'll assume it was ignition related because the water I pounced through will have dried off by tomorrow no doubt.

I know what you mean about the "Cant,be seen" micro cracks but the ignition waterproofing spay should take care of those.

There are many but here is one for a example. Maintenance | Electronic & Electric Maintenance | Clear Lacquer Electrical Spray - B53015 - GlobalIndustrial.com

BTW a good way to check coil wire is to fill a spray bottle with clean water and spray the plug wires while engine is running If it acts funny, plug wires are no good.
