Default 1999 Leaking Gas at Carb...

hey all, my 99 500 is leaking a drop of fuel about every 5 seconds from the very bottom of the carburetor. it is coming out of that little nipple or tip at the bottom. the manual looks like it has a drain line on it, but mine does not have a drain hose.
so, why is this dripping? and do i need a drain hose there? thanks

is that the crab float bowl drain that s leaking? it would have a screw to act as the shut off. maybe seal is bad or loose?

if it's a sp.500 it should be a screw going into the side of the carb. this is the bowl drain. if you unscrew it a little it will flow gas out. if it's already tight then maybe the seal is bad. turn the gas off to the bike and then remove the screw to check if need be. you may want to put something down to catch the gas that will come out.

if its comeing outa the drain hose. ill bet it will need a needle and seat. my 87 kawai did that, and my 2000 sportsman did that. if you shut the gas off it will stop. but if you want to fix it ill bet its the needle and seat... are there alota miles on it? if theres about 5 or so thousand on it id say its due.

make shure its not your idel set screw your gona check.

ok, i checked the screw and it was good and tight. i even loosened it and the gas flowed out, then tightened it back. seemed to stop for a few minutes. but i started it and turned it off and it started to drip about every 20 seconds or so. you think i need a needle and seat? if so, where do i order that at? thanks PB500

it seems to always just have the constant drip every few seconds or so. i can pull the carb and rebuild it myself. i just need to find a kit. i checked ebay and it pulls every polaris rebuild kit except one for a 99 sportsman 500. is there another polaris model that has the same carb kit that would work? thanks
