Thanks again for all the advice. I'll check all these things tonight and hopefully find the problem. I appreciate it.

No codes, only a 12 and 61. Start and stop. Put in a new plug, checked the throttle switch, it was adjusted fine. Then checked all sensors that I could and they seem to be plugged in and can't find any bad wires. I can't find anything wrong. When I try to start I get alot of small backfires. Hit the throttle a little bit, starts. Then runs rough. After about one minute, will run smooth and come up to normal idle. The old plug was really black. AAHHH!!!

To check the ETC (elctronic throttle control) open the black box on the right handle bar where the throttle is. Inside, you'll see a set of points. Put a small piece of paper between them and try to start it. If it runs, thats probably the problem. Don't forget to take the paper out when you're done. Good luck.

There is probably at least an 1/8" between the contacts. Does this still apply?

With that much clearance, the ETC won't be the problem.
