Default '03 sportsman 500

hello,
i'm going to look at a '03 sportsman 500. i'm shopping for my first four wheeler i'm 50ish and have a place in VT and i want one to use around camp and do some trail riding.
does anyone have anything to say about this year/model?
is there anything in particular i should look at?
i'm also looking at grizzlys...
this one has about 1100 miles and he wants $2700 for it. one thing that worrys me a little is that this is at a shop that fixes them up to sell.
so if he wants $2700 for it he must have paid MUCH less right?
i attached a photo he said he took this morning.
and here is his write up.
Needs nothing. Ready to Ride!~ This is a 2003 Polaris Sportsman 4x4 in excellent condition. This quad was completely gone through. Just changed oil, front and rear differential fluids. New air filter and spark plug. New battery. Greased all fittings. Everything is tight. Four wheel drive works great. Thanks! Has a winch also.
thanks in advance for your thoughts! Gary

well the 500 is one of the best atv;s polaris has ever made and for the most part if the bike has been maintained it will last a long time. if there is a warranty w/ it it's even better. that yeare has no big surprises or bad parts that i know about. seems like a good price. imo

well, whoever the previous owner was ,they spent some money on it(front and rear bumpers and winch )nonetheless ,offer him $2000. for it. In the past if i didn't have a trade-in i was always able to buy my 4 wheelers for trade-in value or less.you can go to nada or kelley blue book and see. You can always go up.
Check cv boots for cracks and look at brake pads.
good luck

Nice looking quad! Take it for a spin and if anything doesn't feel right quiz them about it. Obvious problems are tough to hide. 2700 is a good deal for a machine that's in good shape.
