A buddy of mine has a 95 sportsman 400 and last fall we were getting ready to head out of town for a hunting trip. He fired up his machine and turned the lights on and every bulb blew; headlights, tail light, odometer light, etc.. He took it to the dealer as we were in a hurry and they blamed the whole thing on a battery that wouldn't hold a full charge. I'm no expert on electrical systems but it seems to me that a weak battery shouldn't blow out lights. After nearly $150.00 for a new battery and lights his machine hasn't had any other light problems. I would tend to think that if the lights are affected by a weak or dead battery that the electric 4wd system on a Polaris would also be affected.

The rev limiter not working without battery is true. I removed my battery for winter storage. I start my quad now and then to keep it in good running shape (pull start). I had to move it the other day. I clicked it into reverse, hit the gas, and almost went over the bars. And that was without hitting the over ride button.

I learn somthing every day on these forums. The other day my rev limiter wasn't working either. I thought it was because of the new mods. The 4x4 was not engaging either. I have charged my battery for about 15 hours and we will see. I wouldn't want the 4x4 to kick in at high speed...would this have ill-effects?
