My friend just got a sportsman 550, is this considered an XP, there are no XP stickers on it and all the literature I read about it doesn't reference it as an XP.

 

They called both the 850 and 550 XP when they were introduced for the 09 model year. It was to show that the new quad was different than the older Sportsman models. Why they don't call it 550 XP is beyond me. It is an XP in my mind.

 

I've seen 550's at the dealership, some with the XP sticker, and some without. I also saw some XP's with Goodyear Rawhides instead of Terrathons, though one tire is hardly better than the other.

 

IMO its an XP unless its has the X2 seat. Either way all new 550s are the same "XP" design.
