AWD will not engage 2006 Polaris Sportsman 800
I am having a problem with my 2006 Polaris Sportsman 800 that I bought used.
AWD won't engage. The screen lights up HOT and Chek engine
The 4wd light does not comes on.
Every function on the speedometer appears to be working properly.
I think it's something electrical because the problem arised after replacing old dead battery.
Please need help or send me the directions for checking out the front end.

Drain the diff fluid, see whats in it. Dirt and water will stop it from engaging. You could also have a broken cage in the diff.
Turn the key on and off 3 times to get the check engine codes.
Check the fluid in the radiator. If it's low top it off and see if that helps. You might also want to wash it out with a hose, becuase it is common for the radiator to become clogged with mud.

the 800's did not have the bad ecm's in them. what was wrong w/ the battery that caused you too change it. the speedo does control the awd in these bike so it wasn't working then the aawd wouldnt work by not getting any power. you say these lights come, is that w/ the engine running or just turning the key on? by checking the codes as mentioned above, did you have any codes? cnat remember if any of the fuses inthe storage box up front control the awd or not, but worth a check.

I had this happen on the 700. Turns out it was just a loose connection wire under the hood. Anyhow - follow the prompts to check the engine/trouble codes, then toggle to the AWD option and then switch it from 2wd to AWD - if you don't see this change it's simply the switch/wire. Follow the wires and check the connection. May be as simple as that...Jeff
