Too true. "I'd never buy a belt driven ATV, blah blah blah"
Everyone but Honda does belt drive, yet they all apparently suck. I wonder if they feel the same about their drum brakes.

If I remember correctly the Honda trans is about $1,700. That does not include labor.

Ok a question. I have no experience with the XP. Are the XP belts the same length and thickness as all the other Polaris belts?

The 550/850 XPs use a different belt then all the others.

I could see that happening if someone didn't ever use low range.. I sold a 450 Kodiak with almost 6000 km on it and it had the original belt. Heck, I get on average between 11,000 and 12,000 km out of belts on all the ski-doos I've had. I sold a 2002 Grand touring with 27,000 km on it, third belt, 2005 expedition 500 with 12,000 km, second belt and my 2007 GTX 500SS with 15,000 km is on it's second belt.

I change the belt every 2000 miles, thats almost 4 seasons for me, the belts look good but for $80 and 20 min work ,I just do it. I change the oil even thought it still looks clear also.
