Hello forum,
Well, i am completely new to the forum, as well as quadding. We used to have an old quad way back when, and i am just looking to get back into it again.
I have found a 1998 Polaris Scrambler for sale, extremely cheap. However, it does come with a problem. The seller has said that he believes the coil is gone, so the unit doesnt start. So my question is, is there any way to pull start it, or anything to be able to hear the engine. IS it difficult to change the coil out?
Bad thing is, i am not mechanically inclined, but figured that you gotta start somewhere.
Any information or opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks a bunch![Smile](https://atvconnection.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Yup
if they guy that`s selling the scrammy is honest He will purchase a new coil and fire it up so`s Yuh can hear it run,if he not be willing to do that then knock off the price of a complete rebuild and offer him the difference between asking/jewd down price and the rebuild and if He not be willing to do that then "RUN" do`nt walk away, also be sure He has a clean title that matches the enjun and the frame and if it all is`nt clean and clear including lean releases etc. then again,'RUN" do`nt walk away.

If you cant do the work your self stay clear of a non running 400.Too much that can go wrong with one. Most the time no fire is bad plug(cheap fix) or bad stator or flywheel(expensive fix). Then comes the condition of the engine. Most 2strokes are ready for a fresh topend when the owners decide to part with them.No big deal $200 fix if the piston hasnt exploded and broke the cylinder and the case.there is also the counter balance to deal with.If it is full of clean oil that is good.No oil or milky oil bad and expensive.
I never give more than$200 for old 2strokes due to that once you start fixing you get up to a grand fast. And I do my own work and have plenty of used parts.

Most the time the 90s need a top end.
If I was getting quad for a kid I would find a decent Yamaha 125 Breeze
