Can I just take it off, inspect the belt and put it back on again? Do I have to change the seal every time? That is what the dealer told me.

Thanks

You can take it off and inspect. The seal doesn't have to be replaced every time. Just take it off carefully. Once you have it off, you'll see how it goes in the groove. Just be sure to get it in the groove correctly when you put it back together and you should have no problems.

I also use a bit of waterproof grease around the seal to be doubly sure.

Watch you don't overtighten the screws as they only bite into plastic.

I've taken mine off many times with no water problems.

I also bought a handful of those 15 cent acid brushes at Home Depot, and go around the groove with waterproof grease.

I have an extra gasket that I can switch with the one I am taking off the belt cover. This is handy if you are going riding immediately and don't want to wait for the gasket to puff back out. Waterproof grease on the seal is a good idea also.....must incorporate this....hehehehe
