Default polaris rear axle removal

Hello, I was trying to remove the rear axle on my sons 500 HO sportsman but it won't slide out of the transmission. I was wondering if anyone would know how it comes out? I need to replace the torn inner boot. any info would be greatly appeciated Thanks dr.

Tie the upper A-arm up and out of the way, grab a hold of of the axle and slam it in and out as hard as you can, it should pop out. My 02 700 was easy, five or siz good slams and it poped out, my buddies 02 400 was a horror show, I had to weld a piece of metal to the inner CV and use a dent puller to get it out.

Spray where it goes into axle real good with penetrating oil then as stated it should pull out with a good yank, I have had to use a slide hammer on some.

Put some never seize on the spline so the job is easier next time round.

Mine was stubborn, so I sprayed wd40 and left over night, I secured my bike very well, put my feet up and gave it a few good yanks, and I had it.

clamp the shaft with vise grips and tap the vice grips with a hammer will pop right out, with you marr up the shaft just hit it with some sand paper and paint it black,

always use anti-seize when putting back toghter!

you can check out the cv post in the sticky thread above as ell. if it's never been out before it may be extremly hard to get out because of all the build up. like mentioned spray a good penerating oil in and allow it to sit maybe over night.
