Default Melted choke when boosting

I have a 2004 500 HO. When I tried to jump start it with a battery charger I hooked the positive cable to the positive on my battery. I put the negitive terminal to my frame. When I tried to boost it smoke came from around my carbarator. I noticed my choke control would not work after that. I must of melted the cable or something in the choke itself. It started up fine so I went riding. I haven't looked at it in any detail yet but was wonering if anyone else has experianced the same problem.

I would think that you have a ground problem to the motor, and when you jump started it, it ground through your choke cable. Check your grounds closely. Really look at the top right side of the motor. There is a ground cable that has been known to break a lot.
