Congrats again! I can break it in for you hard or gentle, however way you want!!
First couple hrs no wild man stuff, plus change oil and filter after 25 hrs, thereafter I would go 50 hrs even though manual still says 100 hrs/six months,(up to you) too long in my opinion for only 2 quarts of oil. Best of luck. OPT

congrads. i've had many new wheels and i drove them like i would normally, slow, wot and mudding. never had any issues w/break in. the only thing i didn't do was hold it wot for a long disstance for the first 100 miles or so. agreed,do the oil changes as mentioned for reasons mentioned and it should be good bike.

During the "break in period" you will have tight tolerances on metal parts, which is why most manufacturers will specify an "average " time/mileage to change the factory oil and filter which will remove the particles that are in the oil. First oil change will contain usually the most particles than even later changes,IF maintenance is on a reasonable schedule! YOU CAN RIDE like you stole it on break in as some do! Quote: break it in the way you are going to ride it! Its just that I'm OLD SCHOOL even with the better oils, metals, etc than we had in the past, I still like a "variable break in period" no wot during first couple hrs,but you don't have to baby it! OPT

If you want one that's broke in, buy a used. If your paying good money for brand new, I want it BRAND NEW! If you ever go out and buy/pay for a brand new car/truck would you like someone to drive it around for 5000 miles before you pick it up? I'd much rather break a machine in myself and do it right by my standards rather than trusting someone else to do it for me.

Last I checked there is a break in period on a car. All metal parts have to work themselves together. All the manuals I've seen in my cars have always said to go through a break-in period and change oil sooner than 3,000 miles!
