Question PCV vs. Optimizer

Looking for some unbiased information here. I'm trying to plan out my upgrades and I'm at the fuel controller section, can any owners chime in with their pros/cons?

swamp XL slip on or full system if available
28" reapers
EPI clutch kit (trails)
UNI filter

PCV or HMF optimizer

i have the pcv on mine, and it made a huge difference on it.
Pros - can be adjusted for any elevation and u can make custom fuel curves.
Multiple fuel curves created already that work well.
Nice Clean installation, all plug and play
Cons - Need a computer to change settings for different mods
Need dyno to customize fuel curves unless u have the auto tune which measures your air/fuel ratio

When I worked at the dealership, we put the hmf optimizer on a rzr that we put a full exhaust on and we never noticed a difference in power, and they're kind of a pain to get adjusted right. Other than that not much experience with the optimizer

awesome, that's the kind of information I'm looking for. If I go PCV, I'll definitely go with the autotune. I really like your comment about elevation adjustment, I ride at home (sea level), WV (<5k), WY (4-7K), and anywhere else i can. That feature would be more beneficial than I can even imagine.

i have the auto tune sittin on the bench still, finally gonna get some days off to put it in, thats what is gonna help for elevation the most, I just ride in wyoming, but I can still go from 3500 to 10000 ft, be nice to know your air fuel ratio is gonna be constant

I'm with ya, I might have to go ahead and grab that as my first item instead of the tires and exhaust.

I have a HMF XL and K&N filter with an optimizer on my 850. Did notice a big gain but when i put the quite core in i lost a little also. I have a Bmp clutch kit with ajustable weights.
Theres no lang in the throtle response when you hit its there.
the only thing i have to compair it to is the stock set up.
It was easy to install and didn't have to mess with any of the settings.
1st i put my GBC reapers on i lost about 10 mph at the top end.
Adding the clutch i got a few mph back.
Then after i put the HMF xl and optimizer on im back up to where i started about 80 mph top end.
It would be nice to know if the Pvc is better.

PCV will have a lot more adjustment in if you want to and have the time to play with it. Either fuel controller will take an intial set up to see what you think. The Optimizer can normally only add fuel. The PCV can be adjusted in more areas. Both work on most models, kinda depends on how much you plan on tuning and playing around. Auto tune is a nice option.

I really like the Swamp XL. Nice sound and durability.

Obviously I like EPI clutch kits
