Front diff help 800 sportsman
ok this all started with loose steering. Changed the tie rod ends inner and outer. While doing that found a cut in boot of front left cv. great know what that means. so I lifted the bike more to work on it, pulled the boot and water poured out of boot. after getting to the CV joint you can only rotate with force, not smooth. soooo, now notice the part where the shaft sits in the diff is really loose. sunova. same on both sides.
They where a pain to pound out (first time for me, researched it first) so now I have water slightly dripping from drive shaft bearing seal> OMG, pull the drain and this is whats in there.
Pics aren't big, but they are in my garage in the 800 file.
I dried the water, all mud, fun. slight shavings on magnet, nothing i don't think to worry about.
So I got this now
How do u get this off???
And, how to get these off these have way too much play.
is there a rebuild kit?? or just buy the parts individually ??
And also how to clean the inside? take completely apart and wipe??
Thanks for any feedback, learning as I go. Hope this works.

From what I can tell you need a new pinon shaft, just drives out of the small cover with the bearing. Needs new cover seal o-rings,bearing and pinon?. Soak the cv housing in PB blaster to help remove it from the case. Best if you have some kerosene OR a lot of contact cleaner to clean the inside. Plus look up your machine for parts diagram on Cycle Parts Warehouse, cheapest place for OEM parts. Parts breakdown will help you in what you need to buy.Plus check the awd roll cage for cracks. OPT

Thanks OPT, opened the diff and WOW. looks very bad, think i need to find someone to have it cleaned. Still cant get the part off the yoke. Soaked it with PB today waiting till tomorrow. Also going to buy a gear puller. I put it back on the diff and hope the PB will work in tonight and with help of the gear puller knock it out tomorrow.
