Which primary spring for 2002 325 trail boss
#1
I'm wondering what primary clutch spring to put in for a better take off and higher top end. The guy I bought it from said it was stock but not sure. It has a dark green spring in it not sure of the brand. I don't have to much money to play with so I figured I will do a clutch spring and maybe a belt. So looking for faster take off and higher top speed.

blue/green color is the stock primary spring on the 325. Sounds like you may have the stock one. Others can help you on what you need to do as far as any performance upgrades. OPT

I was thinking white Polaris or Pink EPI spring after reading some but not sure. I have some trails that have some long but semi steep hills and currently I have to peg it to keep the speed up. I don't want a higher rpm engagement. just want it to take off faster and top out higher with out really losing low end if possible.

Think I had the white in mine. Seems like the primary out of a scrambler was a good choice.
OPT probably can tell you exactly which one will work best.

RR told me to get a red EPI spring. How ever from what I have been reading I'm quite sceptical. I wanted little to no loss on bottom with highest top speed. To pull hard through middle and up top with a low rpm engagement. This to me sounds like I should have got the pink spring. I guess the EPI Red is the same as Polaris white. It has a higher engagement rpm and pulls hard in the mid and flattens out up high. This is what I read anyhow. Anyone else have more insight on this. Was he not listening to me or is he right? Anyone using the red EPI spring and how does it work? and how do you like it? I have a red spring on the way that may have to go back or be sold.

I would probably go with what rick said. I was told a setup and when I ordered I ordered my dalton primary from him and he said it was a good setup. And boy has it been. I would tell you what I run but a 400 2smoke and a 325 4stroke would be so far apart in performance as far as springs go it isn't worth talking about. Did rick suggest a secondary spring with the epi red? you'll have to be careful if you're worried about loosing any off the top because alot of secondary spring changes will take atleast a couple mph and some quite a bit more but you gain in bottom end torque when you lose top end...
