I also hate the reverse limiter, it is a major pain in the a$$

The first time I backed up with it I thought what the hell is wrong with this POS, then I read the manual

I still always forget that I need to push the button, it really sucks when plowing snow.

The upside of needing to use the override button to go into FWD while in reverse is when you've gotten your self into a tight jam and need to turn around in a extremely tight area. Mainly because one wheel drive turns alot tighter than AWD. I've been grateful for this feature several times when going up a tight mountain switch-back and ran into an impassable washout or in the forest between trees etc and only had inches to maneuver because the trail was barely wider than my quad. If it was in AWD at all times, I would want a button to opt out of AWD when backing up to be able turn better.

But for repetitive backing up like plowing, it would be nice to have it engaged at all times.

Being in or out of 4-wd does not affect the turning radius of mine and I'm surprised it does with yours.

The joints in the axles are usually what affects the turning radius and they are there whether its in 2-wd or 4-wd.

Your's might be different.

It only effects the turning radius if it has Turf Mode and you turn it on if I remember correctly. Could be wrong. I don't have a manual for the Touring.

Wouldn't this button work??

Or am I missing something??

A little frosty here this morning, I forgot to put the cover on last night.

The 'default' in reverse on mine is the turf mode, one wheel drive, it turns very smooth with a tight radius. The override button engages AWD (not two wheel drive), which of course changes the turning characteristics when all tires start grabbing, when there's a tiny bit of slippage. Again, this only crucial in rare circumstances where inches matter.

Looks like Polaris took turf mode off that bike (probably as a cost saving move).

Not 100% sure but I think that the X2 and some of the Rangers are the only ones that have it.

I'd be willing to bet you're right Moose.

Moose you may be right, I have a Ranger and an X2, it's on both of them. My kids have the smaller 400 bikes and they don't have it. It really makes a difference, especially so with the longer wheelbase.

A friend of mine is trying to wire his RZR with a turf switch he thinks the axle has the ability to add the switch, it should help his turning radius.
