First impression of my new Maxxis Ceros tires mounted on STI HD2 wheels after a short 7.8 mile ride on my "trail course" and I have decided that these would make excellent turf tires.

They actually have a great - very responsive feel to them in the steering department and way better than expected lateral control.

The forward traction is not great and they don’t seem to be an aggressive tire. I actually couldn't make it up one particular hill the first try; I've never not made it up before. The hill is steep and very loose. I climb up it very slow in 4-wd low and the tires just spun and really didn't dig much either. They just spun on the top of the loose surface.

They might be a great tire for those who don't like mud and do very little if any winter riding but enjoy a nice long scenic trail. I think they would interest a lot of riders.

I'll get more miles on them this weekend. I have friends coming down to do some riding.

I rode with a guy that had a set of Cerros and swore by the durability. The non-aggresive tread pattern doesn't wear out very fast, like more aggresive patterns tend to. Last I knew he had almost 6,000 miles on them and they still looked serviceable. If someone needed a tire for riding gravel roads and moderate terrain they might be a great investment.

I think so too. They steer great and I agree with the long lasting wear.

I'm looking forward to putting some miles on them.

The tread on the Ceros looks more like truck tires than ATV tires.

I said that exact same thing the first time I saw them.

I'm starting to have issues with the 4-wd staying engaged even after I turn the 4-wd off. To get it to disengage I have to switch it to 2-wd, back up and then shut the machine off and wait a few seconds and then restart it.

I am looking forward to my next set of tires. Doug said they would be mounted on the OE wheels, most likely Terra Cross.

I am not a fan of aftermarket wheels. While they look nice having the offset they do makes them useless to me. Getting mud flipped all over me and the machine is more than irritating. Why can't they make wheels with the same exact offset as OE???? One positive for the Polaris is they come from the factory with nice looking wheels.

I dropped the tire pressure to 3 1/2 psi on these Maxxis Ceros and they ride nice, steer nice and have decent lateral control. These tires are good trail tires if you are a leisurely rider. They can't be pushed and have very poor forward traction on all surfaces. I have about 100 miles on them so far.
