my new ATV

Did it break? I imagine you know that you have to be in 4wd for the ADC to work. That's my understanding of it. I think you might need to be under 15 miles an hour also. Maybe the guys with ADC will chime in.

Coming down a steep loose hill in low 4-wd ADC on and just the rear wheels locked up and the machine slid down the hill sideways.
I turned the ATV off and let it sit a minute and tried it again and the same thing.
I actually leave it in 4-wd ADC all the time and never use 2-wd.
The little ADC light on the instrument cluster was on but I guess it decided not to work anymore.
It's due for its first oil change so I guess its back to the dealer.

It is my understanding you should never just ride around in ADC...only when you come to a steep hill do you stop at the top, engage and then proceed from there. I can't remember if you got manuals with it...but I would read up on it...
I accidentally slid my switch over two left clips from 2wd and had it on ADC...you could hear the whining and crazy sounds that were going on when traveling at normal trail speed (think about it...it's engaged serious engine braking and other technology that doesn't want your ATV to go faster than a few MPH down a steep slope). Once I disengaged it, all went away and no more strange whining sound.

hehe- I replaced it with an 09 outty 650xt (big surprise, right
)
I used the ADC a couple of times on my 09 XP850 going down some real steep hills. I was in 2x4 while descending, riding the brake, then switched to ADC in the middle of the hill- it was pretty effective. It felt like I was slowly being lowered by a winch- I could let go of the bars and the popo would just crawl.
What ever you do- don't fill your tires with nitrogen! it makes the atv so light that it will float right over and roll down the hill
(that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Well done...I stand corrected!
However, if I read too much into the literature...the first paragraph says you should switch into it when descending a hill. If you aren't descending a hill, you should switch out of it? However, the last section describes how it will automatically disengage with over 15 mph, etc.
Head scratcher.
