Heres a new one for ya! Found the going in gear problem. So I had spend hours tracing wires, adjusting throttles, for nothing.
My buddy came over and I we listened to it die and he said he did not think it was electrical.
So we tried it a couple more times and it was not like it was being shut off it was like it was being stalled out like a manual clutch driven quad.
MICE had gotten into the belt drive and the nest had completly jambed up the clutch slides so they would not loosen enough to let the belt slip at ideal.
Took it apart cleaned it up, problem fixed. Well that problem now it boggs out when tring to ride it or rev it up, so I am guessing I need to adjust something back to the way it was before messing with it. Or i may have fauld the plug with all starting and stopping. I ran out of time to figure it out.
Thanks for all the help, I was really starting to think I had bought a big problem.

You're wearing me out!! LOL Glad you found the problem of dying! As far as bogging, replace the plug as you said,if doesn't help, make sure there is a small rubber dampener under the carb, mounted to the transmission! There was a bulletin on the 94 models to install this! It was to keep carb from vibrating and dumping fuel and bogging mainly at high speed! All later models had it. If it has the dampener, I would just go through the carb and replace the needle and seat(400's were bad on wearing out needle and seats),clean the jets, plus check that float arm and pin aren't worn and wobbly. When carb is upside down make sure the float arm is parallel with the carb body! You also might remove the intake bolts and pull out the reed valve and check that the reed petals are ok and not broken off, split or warped! OPT

No rubber bumper, on trans. I will find something to shove up in there.
Weird how it was running great the other day.

#7512265 bolt, #7555827 washer, #5432082 rubber dampener!! It really needs this along with probably the carb service! OPT
Maybe a long time dealer still has a dampener kit in stock! Think I still had a couple when I left
