Default looking for a used hillard lutch

i hope i am not violating any rules by posting this here, and if so, it will be removed,,,,

i need a hillard clutch assembly for my wife's "new" 2000 sportsman 500. we bought it under the impression it was well maintained and needed nothing. both hubs were bone dry, and needs all new bearings/seals/armature plates and 1 hillard that is broken. i am hoping to buy a good used one instead of a $220 new one. if anyone has a parts machine or an extra laying around they could sell me, please let me know

You could try Ebay, but buyer be ware on used parts! The bearings and races you can get from Autozone,Napa,O'reillys, etc. Some members may have some decent hilliard assemblies they could sell you?Plus check out the strut housings carefully by the coils to make sure the inner pole machined into the strut has not been ground down by the armature plate or it won't do any good just to replace the hub parts only! Have found this a lot on dry hubs and the hub strut assembly(with coil and sleeve) is $295 At Cycle Parts Warehouse itself! OPT

Another thing if your looking on ebay is the hub AWD system where all the same,so you can look up a used one from a different year and model to widen your search.

My cousin founds the complete strut with hub assembly for $50 for his 2001 Scrambler 500 and it came from a 99 Sportsman 500. Bolted on quick and worked great.

i have sourced all new bearings; they are "standard issue" utility trailer hub bearings (44649 and 44643, with 44610 races), available anywhere, and at 1/4 the cost of polaris. EPI seals are much cheaper than popo.

i might tend to trust someone on here more than "joe shmoe" on ebay, but i look anyways

Almost all bearings and seals have a "universal number" so you don't have to really rely on dealer prices! They just get them from suppliers the same as you can! I've even gone to our shop's local Napa dealer to get bearings to finish up jobs before if they were back ordered or we didn't have em in stock! Even if all you can find is RS (sealed) bearings, you can pop the metal or plastic/rubber seals and use them! OPT
