So I've taken it out once so far after buying it w/ 35 miles on the machine. Love the power and handling. Thinking about what I can do to protect it for the long haul. Maybe snorkels, skid plates, and I may put a pipe on it. Any advice, ideas? Anything I should watch out for? Thanks for the help!

one thing to be aware of is, with skid plates on the A arms, is watch making a pocket that can accumulate and hold mud, gravel, sticks that could damage yer CV boots....thats all I got and congrats on yer purchase

Thanks for the advice on the skid plates. Anyone recommend a pipe that's not too crazy loud or aggressive, but gives me a little sound?

I would keep it stock, maybe skid plates and rear bumper.
Do all maintenance as scheduled and oil changes.

I'd give you the exact same advice as above. The frame, engine and rest of the drivetrain are pretty bulletproof. The pipe will make the sound heavier, your wallet lighter, with neglible gain. The big down side of those louder pipes is that ATV haters become even more militant in getting them banned on public lands. You made a great decision, now go ride!

Unless you're going to go in over the headlights you probably don't need a snorkel. The air intake is up pretty high on the Polaris machines.

agreed on the above and would add to make sure to the radaitor clean on front and back as the 800's normally run hot and a partly blocked rad. will only make it much worse.

Read your owners manual Synthetic Polaris PS4Plus(2w50) is recommended, but you can use use a good brand 0w40 (Mobil1,Amsoil,etc) This is the weight oil Polaris used up until the change over. If you use a different weight oil than 2w 50 or 0w40,then you need to change it more frequently per the manual. Not gonna get into an oil debate, but use synthetic only! That's what's in it right now! OPT
