I currently own a 99 Sportsman 500 and a 2001 Recon. I am in the market for a third atv for my wife and have had the chance to ride a 425 for the last week on a trail basis. I need you help on a few areas of concern. When riding this atv on mud and hardpack this past weekend the front end tends to dive. When making a hard left or right to avoid objects the 425 feels as though it may tip. Is that a common trait for this atv? What is a fair price for a 2000 425 in good condition?

Yo SP500RECON, The Expedition 425 is a great quad, my friend has one and I have ridden it alot!!!! It is a good quad for riding trails and kickin up some dust just as it is a good quad for utility work and mudding, its pretty peppy for a utility machine, which is always good on the trails, has ok top end for a utility quad, the smoothest shifting atv out there!!!! The 4 wheel drive is also good too, works very well in snow!!!! Although I don't know what a good deal would be for a used one, but if you can afford it to get it, go ahead, they're great quads!!!!

PEACE

Mine did the same thing. I put HD springs on it this winter, & it seemed to help. It's hard to tell till I get it on the trail again this summer.
Other than that it's been a great machine. I don't know about prices, but the rumour is that Polaris is going to discontinue the model soon. Maybe if you can find one at a dealer, you can get a good deal because of that.

I don't know that I believe the rumor that they might discontinue the xped. there is no real good reason to do so.

I put highlifters progressive lift setup on my front end, which included heavy duty springs and adjustible cams. My atv don't seem tippy at all. I have tipped it over though.

Lurch77's web site has pics of my xped. and he sent me an e-mail today and told me he put a new pic on that I sent him. It is a pic of polaris new
brush guard that I have on my xped. You can go to page 4 of viewers rides or directly to the brush guard pic by:

this above web site. Its a great brush guard and looks nice on our polaris utility atv's.

I don't know what a good used xped. should cost. Lets see, I paid 5,200.00 new. I spent allot more buying accessories. Take it from there I guess.

I really enjoy riding the xped. and of course it does have the same polaris awd so it will hold its own in the mud. Still has good speed and some magazines have reported that it may be polaris's toughest built atv. Its a real work horse. It would be great for on the farm. I just wanted a solid atv that will hold up to rough riding. Mine is 2 years old now and running fine. I hope you get one! rangerchet

I read an ad in the Omaha World Hearld this last weekend for a 2000 Polaris 425 Expedition , with snow plow, 75 miles, for $5100.00 , selling due to moving.
I own a 2000 Expedition and am very happy with the atv. Paid $5300 for it new . I have seen a dealer demo advertised for $4900, it had 12 miles on it. Good luck with the purchase.
