Default Got a flat on the trail...need new tires. 2009 550XP

Long story short - 2 years ago got a puncture right on the rim (rock pinched the tire/rim and got a bad leak - replaced with a tube). Rode 170 miles today and 40 miles from my truck, got a bad leak again on a new spot. Was able to stick some plugs in there and stop every 5 miles to refill with the air compressor. Fun fun. But I made it back! I have 1600 miles on the stock tires and with 2 flats on the sidewall...it's time to upgrade.

So...I am pretty set on getting the ITP Terracross. However, I have a question about what size to get on the front. Stock is 26x8x14. They offer an 8 inch wide, which is stock, or a 9....would it be beneficial to get the 9 over the 8 or stay the same?

I know the stock rear is 26x10x14...they don't sell a 10" wide so I have to go with an 11" (26x11x14) and I have to bend the sway bar in a little because I own a 2009 model 550XP.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Don't know about going much wider but I would sure consider going to 27" for height and more clearance (1/2 inch). I have 27" Mud Lite Radials on my 2008 Touring and what a difference over the stock tires. You will not have to worry about clutching or gearing. Just bolt on and go.

I put 26" 9 wide on the front of my Bear it handles great I'm glad I went with 9 over 8 . Your love the Terracross I'v never had a flat in 13,000 miles running them .

I ordered the tires today through my dealer....got a great deal on the set at $500 for all 4.

I decided to go with the 26x11x14 for the rear and got an inch wider in the front with the 26x9x14.

Should have them mounted sometime next week when I can run my rims over to have the tires swapped over. Can't wait!

I'm withBowana, Ida gone with the 27's...plenty of torque from the machine and the Mudlites are a very good mud tire...and for most surfaeceas wll..I am happy with there performace on my 500 Sportsman...whhen the tires need replaced on my new 550 I will go up to 27's..maybe even 28's as te 26's stock on my 550 are taller than the 26" Mudlites on my 500...Maybe Mudlites run small...???

I don't see 27's as an option on ITPs website for the terracross.

I am getting them from a Yamaha dealer which I have purchased two motorcycles from over the years and know the owner and teach his kids. I have since sold both bikes and now have the Polaris quad for a few years now and needed some rubber and knew where to go for it.

I am heading over at 1:00 today to get them mounted. Can't wait!
